Subhasmita Ghadei b. 1997
Subhasmita Ghadei (b. 1997, Odisha, India) completed her BFA, B.K. College of Art & Crafts, Bhubaneswar, 2019 and MVA, Painting, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, 2024. Her works have been exhibited in group shows at Vis-a-Vis, Baroda, 2025; Forms and Figures, New Delhi, 2025; Gallery Champa Tree, New Delhi, 2025; Abhivyakti City Art Project, Baroda, 2024; Lalit Kala Academy, Nepal, 2023 and Kochi Student’s Biennale, 2018.
Subhasmita’s practice draws from the cultural landscape of coastal Odisha, combining painting, material experimentation, and references to Odissi dance and weaving traditions. Using natural and found materials, her work explores themes of memory, women’s experiences, resilience, and identity while reflecting on regional craft traditions, feminist concerns, and the relationship between nature and cultural heritage.
