Sakshi Kasar b. 2001
Sakshi Kasar (b. 2001, Bhusawal, Maharashtra, India) is pursuing MFA at Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai. She completed her G.D. Art, Painting and Foundation course, Saptput Lalit Kala Bhavan, Khiroda, 2022, 2018. Her works have been exhibited in group shows at Sir J. J. School of Art, 2026; Kismat Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2025; Jehangir Art Gallery, 2025 and Triveni Art Gallery, Inception Art Grant, Delhi, 2024.
Sakshi has been a recipient of the Late Artist Altaf Award, 2026, the Art-Heart Award, Sir J. J. School of Art Annual Exhibition, 2024, the K. K. Hebbar Art Foundation Award, 2022 and the Inception Art Grant 2024.
Sakshi’s practice explores the body as a site of memory, resilience, and transformation through painting, mixed media, and installation. Merging bodily forms with organic elements, her work reflects on inherited memories, gendered experiences, and the politics of the female body. Through layered textures and symbolic imagery, she creates contemplative spaces that explore growth, endurance, vulnerability, and renewal.
