Using Kantha as a reflection of her traditional roots and cultural background, Shimran’s practice is rooted in her deep appreciation for nature. With her various travels between the chaotic urban city, and the tranquil serenity of the rural world, she seeks refuge in nature. Through her art, she strives to portray how the notion of development has affected nature and the female body. Her artwork is not limited to set mediums and tools, and shifts according to her mood and emotional state. This flexibility allows her to create intricately detailed, labour-intensive work.

Shimran lives and works in Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
