Space118 Art Foundation Fine Arts Grant 2022:
Space118 Art Foundation invited applications from artists across India for its Production Grant, supporting the realization of both ongoing and newly conceived projects. Conceived as a platform for artistic growth and experimentation, the grant combined financial support with mentorship and opportunities for public engagement.
Alongside a grant bursary ranging from INR 15,000 to INR 1,00,000, selected artists were offered two online mentorship sessions and a review session with a senior or mid-career practitioner chosen by the jury. These sessions fostered critical dialogue and provided artists with guidance tailored to their individual practices. Extending beyond the studio, the programme also created space for visibility through a Virtual Open Studio Day, where recipients presented their work on Space118’s digital platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.
The selection process involved a careful review of project proposals and budgets, which were refined in consultation with the jury and Space118 prior to the commencement of the grant. The jury for the 2022–23 cycle included Lekha Poddar, Arshiya Lokhandwala, and Neha Choksi, whose diverse perspectives shaped the selection of grantees.
Mentorship for the year was led by a dynamic group of practitioners, including Shaina Anand and Ashok Sukumaran, Prabhakar Pachpute, Dhruvi Acharya, Rakhi Peswani, Subodh Gupta, Vibha Galhotra, and Ronni Sen. Their engagement brought a wide range of perspectives and experiences, enriching the programme and supporting artists in shaping and presenting their work.
