FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 260, YEARS ELEVEN INDIAN ARTISTS EXHIBIT AT THE STATE HERMITAGE MUSEUM

ROBB REPORT INDIA

For the first time in its 260-year history, the State Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg, is hosting a dedicated exhibition of contemporary Indian art.

Sediments of Becoming: Fossilised Present, Summoned Pasts, produced in collaboration with Threshold Art Gallery, marks a landmark moment for Indian art on the global stage.

Co-curated by Marina Schulz and New Delhi-based gallerist Tunty Chauhan, the exhibition brings together 11 Indian artists working across painting, sculpture, installation, and performance — among them Afrah Shafiq, Anindita Bhattacharya, Debashish Mukherjee, Gargi Raina, Lakshmi Madhavan, and V. Ramesh. Each brings a living contemporary voice to a space historically shaped by colonial exchanges and dynastic collections.

Robb Report India got an exclusive look inside, through the lens of art collector Saloni Doshi.
