In light of the global pandemic in 2020 and the subsequent lockdown, physical studio spaces were not accessible. The artists were deprived of their studio spaces, access to each other’s practices, engagement in discussions, and avail of other opportunities.
Space118 is proud to have supported students and artists from all across the country in its mission of creating an ecosystem of support for the arts, even in these challenging times. Through our hybrid format and fundraisers, we were able to give an online platform to budding artists who had never had a forum to present their artworks before.
Our goal has been not just to adapt but also to learn and grow from the trying times and the challenges it brings. This is apparent in our grant artists’ resourceful body of work, which they have produced despite having minimal resources. The artists receive 50% of the earnings from the show, while the remaining 50% goes to the Space118 Fine Arts Grant.
