Krishnal Fulwala (b.1992, Surat, Gujarat, India) completed his BVA in Painting (2015) and MVA in Painting (2017) from Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara.

Krishnal employs architectural structures, stacking the paper in the manner in which a structure is built. He establishes a connection between a structure’s internal and external aspects. The mystery underlying the structural parts – basic linear frames – that progressively result in intricate building creates a sense of intrigue. His method is similar to how frescos are created, when each layer is meticulously placed and refined over time. He constructs his own narrative using a variety of themes and incongruous areas.

Krishnal’s architectural structures are heavily influenced by mosques, tombs, gardens and other architectural elements from the Mughal era. These drawings, which can also be referred to as diagrams, use the "mark-making" approach, which involves superimposing multiple lines on a specific area of an existing design. By employing tile motifs mimicking the structure’s composition, he tries to establish a connection between a structure's internal and external aspects. His method is similar to how frescos are created, when the layers are meticulously placed over one another and refined over time.

His works have been exhibited in group shows in India, including at Nine Fish Art Gallery, Mumbai (2017); Art Centrix Space, Delhi (2017); Rukshaan Art Gallery, Mumbai (2017); Gallery Ark, Vadodara (2018), Kala Kriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad (2018) and Kanoria Gallery for Arts, Ahmedabad (2019).

Additionally, he is an Assistant Professor at Uka Tarsadia University, Bardoli and has been a grantee at Nasreen Mohamedi Scholarship (2009) and Ministry of Culture Scholarship to Young Artists (2018).

Krishnal Fulwala lives and works in Surat, Gujarat, India.
