Manjit Gogoi (b.1996, Guwahati, Assam, India) completed his BFA, Sculpture from Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Guwahati, Assam, 2021 and pursued MFA, Sculpture from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, Maharashtra, 2023.

Manjit, growing up near the eastern edge of Kaziranga National Park, has been deeply engaged with the impact of landscape changes on natural habitats. His work explores how fragmentation, displacement, urbanization and agricultural expansion disrupt ecosystems, forcing species into conflict and extinction. Rooted in environmental science and geography, his practice examines these transformations through metaphor and material.

In this Series, Manjit explores landscapes as metaphors for human-animal conflict, focusing on fragmentation and migration. Their work examines how animals move to higher ground while highways cut through hills and plains, creating tensions in shared spaces.

Through his work, he interrogates the changing landscape, using art as a means of ecological reflection and resistance.

Manjit Gogoi lives and works in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
