His work has been exhibited in solo shows in India, including at Kismat Art Gallery, Colaba, Mumbai, 2024; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2019; and Pradarshak Art Gallery, Khar, Mumbai, 2013. He has also participated in group exhibitions across India at CIMA Art Gallery, Kolkata, 2023 and 2024; Art and Soul, Mumbai, 2024; The Art Lounge Gallery, Gurugram, Delhi, 2023; ICA Gallery, Jaipur, 2023; Nippon Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2023; Minimal Stroke Art Gallery, Pune, 2022; Artist Centre Gallery, Mumbai, 2017; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2014; and Coomarswamy Hall, Mumbai, 2013.

Additionally, Yogesh was awarded the Prafulla Dhanukar Merit Art Grant for Painting in 2022 and 2023, the Bombay Art Society “Prafulla Dhanukar” Award for Painting in 2020, the Art Society of India “Silver Medal” for Painting in 2020, the Maharashtra State Award in 2014, and the 12th Camlin Foundation Award for Painting in 2010.

Yogesh’s work explores the complexities of urban life, reflecting on the overlapping and often conflicting boundaries of personal, social, and public spaces. In his recent works, he investigates the vertical rise of cities through relief painting techniques that mirror the stacking of skyscrapers—symbols of both human ambition and environmental decline. These layered constructions in his work evoke a sense of shrinking spaces and encroachment, offering a silent yet pointed commentary on the impact of political agendas and rapid urban transformation. Through abstraction, Yogesh prompts viewers to contemplate the evolving nature of cities and the lived experience within them.

Yogesh Murkute lives and works in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
