“I’m grateful to Space118 for selecting me for the Fine Art Grant for the period 2022-2023, and for their support in helping me out to start my project ‘What’s on the Menu? / Khaane mein kya hai?” along with social media promotion to initiate this conversation around gender stereotyping of mannerism, appearances and behaviour. Additionally i am thankful for connecting me to my desired mentor, who provided valuable guidance throughout the Grant period. It has been a very interesting journey with Space118.”
Pallavi Singh hold a Masters Degree in Fine Art, Painting, College of Art, Delhi, 2011.
She is recipient of several awards including the Vermont Studio Center Artist Opportunity Fellowship (2019), the InLaks Scholarship at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2015), the 10th Sovereign Asian Art Prize, Hong Kong (2013-14), and most recently, she was shortlisted for the TAF Emerging Artist Award South Asia, London (2021).
Pallavi Singh's work focuses on social constructs and challenges to gender stereotypes, and explores sexuality, personal care and grooming behaviours, and corporate spectacles.
Pallavi is based in New Delhi and represented by Art Heritage.
