Mario D’Souza is a curator and writer based between Goa, Kochi, and New Delhi, India. His work focuses on research-driven curatorial practice, public programming, and institutional collaborations within contemporary art in South Asia and beyond.

He serves as Director of Programmes and Exhibitions at the Kochi Biennale Foundation and is part of the curatorial team of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, South Asia’s largest contemporary art exhibition. He is also core team member and  Curator at HH Art Spaces, where he supports artist-led projects and experimental curatorial formats.

D’Souza’s research interests include Indian Ocean and Silk Road imaginaries, non-alignment and nation-building, performance cultures and the aesthetics of dissent, as well as legal and extra-legal systems, evidence, and modes of truth-production. His work often examines how artistic practice intersects with political histories, transnational exchange, and alternative knowledge systems.

He has curated and contributed to exhibitions and research initiatives internationally, including projects with the Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational in the United Kingdom and Fondazione Elpis in Italy, among others. Through these collaborations, he has developed a curatorial approach grounded in long-term research, interdisciplinary dialogue, and artist-centred methodologies.

Across his curatorial and editorial work, Mario D’Souza remains committed to fostering critical exchange, collaborative practices, and new platforms for contemporary art.
