Katuku Anukaya b. 1999

Overview

Katuku Anukaya (b. 1999, Telangana, Hyderabad, India) completed her BFA and MFA, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad, 2023, 2025. Her work has been exhibited in group shows at the State Art Gallery, Hyderabad, 2026; Hyderabad Literary Festival, 2025; ASLI Art Fair, 2023, 2024, and 2025. She also received the Best Installation Award at ASLI Art Fair, 2024.

 

Anukya’s practice explores the interconnected relationships between land, labour, sustainability, and food production through her lived experience within an agricultural community. Working across textiles, embroidery, weaving, and painting, she reflects on farming practices, ecological change, and the often-unseen labour that sustains rural life. Through material and craft-based processes, her work examines questions of care, gendered labour, and the changing realities of contemporary agriculture.
