Meet Varvada Indian, b. 1998
Meet Varvada (b.1998, Vadodara, Gujarat, India) received his BVA in Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU, Vadodara, Gujarat (2017) and MFA, Department of Art, Media and Performance, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR (2021).
His works have been exhibited in group exhibitions at The Gujral Foundation and Artdemic (2024); City Art Project, Ahmedabad (2024); Shiv Nadar IoE, Delhi NCR (2024); Anant Art Gallery, Noida (2023); Bulandshahar Legacy Festival (2022); Bikaner House, Delhi (2022); and Artflute Gallery, Bangalore (2021). He was the Hyundai Motors India Foundation grant Awardee (2021). He published Bulandshahr Jail, a comic book (2022) and co-authored Still, a limited edition photobook for Pandemic as Portal, Badam Tree Art Consultancy (2022) and has participated in the Kochi Students’ Biennale, comic/graphic narrative workshop (2021).
Varvada explores myth, memory, and environmental change through the dolomite mining landscapes of Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. Using film, drawings, and archival material, he examines how folklore and human intervention shape shifting terrains and collective narratives.
