Dheeraj Yadav (b. 1989, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India) completed his BFA and MFA, Visual Arts, Allahabad University, Uttar Pradesh, 2014. His work have been exhibited in solo shows at Art Konsult, New Delhi, 2019, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, 2016 and Nirala Art Gallery, Allahabad, 2013 and 2012 and group shows in India at Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, 2017, Lalit Kala Akademi,New Delhi, 2015,— 2014, 2013 and 2012. Additionally, he is the recipient of Abir First Take, Ahmedabad, 2023, Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Award, Mumbai, 2022 and 2018, Lalit Kala Akademi National Award, New Delhi, 2016 and Ravi Jain Annual Award, Dhoomimal Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2016. Dheeraj has also received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, 2014 and Lalit Kala Akademi, Scholarship, New Delhi, 2016. He has been an artist in residence at India Art Fair, Dhoomimal Gallery, 2022 and Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, 2017.
For the past decade, Dheeraj has focused on honing his drawing skills, primarily using paper and canvas as his mediums. His affinity for drawing, especially mythological themes and goddess figures has been a constant focus throughout his artistic journey. He often incorporates various types of paper and postage stamp printing into his work, recently exploring larger formats and layering techniques to add depth to his compositions. Dheeraj pushes the boundaries of his practice, experimenting with new techniques and expanding his exploration of traditional art forms.
