Akshata uses unconventional ways of weaving tapestries, on her frame looms. The medium comes naturally to her and she weaves as if she's nurturing and growing something over time. She works with natural fibers like wool, cotton and silk, sourced both from her travels abroad and across India. These are dyed using natural dyes and she often collaborates with artisans and weavers in her process. She is drawn to the rivers she encounters in her travels, absorbing experiences from diverse places. In response to the shifting realities of climate change and pollution, her tapestries reflect these waters as pure or starkly real.

Akshata lives and works in Thane, Maharashtra, India.
