Trained as a printmaker, Souro has ventured into painting, focusing on social activities observed in his surroundings. His works are a response to societal nuances, exploring social and political views. Influenced by the politics of his background and origin, his works serve as a documentation of the current times. Though lacking a subjective continuation, his works share a relational thread in approach. Amidst the increasingly repressive political and social climate globally, he delves into homes through small windows to grasp the politics of personal life. He reflects these emotions directly in his works. Influenced by artists like Sudhir Patwardhan, Souro lays importance on capturing mixed emotions which are unique to each society while unravelling the intricacies of its social structure and depth.

Souro Chatterjee lives and works in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
