Sneha likes to call herself a visual storyteller. She believes that one way of dealing with absurdity in life is through humour. Her works are experimental and research-oriented while simultaneously being light, playful, and participatory. The works have subtle underlayers that stem from her practice of writing, drawing, reading, and building associations with the place, people, and objects around her. The bucket becomes a monster, the lone chair cries to get used, the antennas fight over the death of a sparrow, the fan keeps circling, and the tap keeps trickling forever. She is intrigued by something as banal as the idea of sleep, with its underlying complexities, and has worked in different formats such as DIY, installation, and an interactive game.
Sneha Lakhotia lives and works in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
