Aditya Chadar (b.1998, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India) completed his BFA and MFA in Painting at Government Fine Art College, Indore, 2022. His works have been exhibited in group shows at Raja Man Singh Tomar University, Gwalior, 2019; Devlalikar Kala Vithika, Indore, 2016 – 2020; Hutheesing Visual Art Centre, Ahmedabad, 2021; Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi, 2021; Mandu Utsav, Mandav, 2022, Arpana Fine Arts Gallery, New Delhi, 2023 and Vida Heydari Contemporary, Pune, 2024.
He has participated in the Kochi Muziris Students’ Biennale, 2016, 2018 and Cartist Automobile Art Festival, Indore, 2019. He has also been an artist-in-residence at Space Studio, Baroda, 2022, and MAIR Residency, Mumbai, 2023.
Aditya’s works are influenced by the amalgamation of nature and urban life. He captures the tumultuous energy of crowded spaces while maintaining an equilibrium in his compositions. His works evoke contemplation about individuality and the roles we play within the broader society. Primarily figurative, his works feature crowds or their abstract representation as a recurring motif. Drawing from Indian miniatures and pop art, he infuses a contemporary perspective into his work, offering viewers an array of possibilities, ideas, and subjects to contemplate. His purposive depiction of crowds serves as a reflection on the urban culture we inhabit, prompting viewers to question the emotions and dynamics that surround us.
