Barkha Gupta (b. 1995, New Delhi, India) completed her BA, Contemporary Art Practices, Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology, 2017 and an exchange program from Malmo University, School of Art and Communication, Sweden, 2016.

Barkha’s work, along the interdisciplinary lines, engages in the intersections of research and practice in the field of material studies, nature, structure, textiles and design. With her experience in conservation of craft and textile world, she brings in a curatorial lens to her practice.

The series reflects on acts of construction: taking from the earth, planning, and reimagining it. The title, from /khadāna/ (quarry), evokes both extraction and creation — a negotiation between loss and form.

Her works have been exhibited in group shows in India and abroad at Pulp Society, New Delhi, 2023, Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi, 2021, Apparao Gallery, Delhi, 2020, Sumukha Gallery, Bangalore, 2017, Galleryske, Bangalore, 2016, Tate Modern, London, 2015, Kochi Muziris Students Biennale, 2014 and Tate Modern London, collaboration with Central St. Martins and Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology, 2014.

Barkha is the recipient of Linnaeus-Palme Award, Malmo University, 2016.

Barkha Gupta lives and works in New Delhi, India.
